At Brilliant Work, we guide many companies from start-up to scale-up. For example, read here the story of Thijs Jansen with his Krathaak.
Krathaak, a revolutionary gadget for safely transporting crates of beer on bicycles, is the brainchild of Thijs Jansen. This product has now found its way not only in the Netherlands, but also internationally to consumers in more than ten countries.
Despite success in the consumer market, Thijs faced a challenge in business sales. Krathaak had found its place in the market and sales were going well, but approaching corporate customers was a different story.
New opportunities through collaboration with Brilliant Work
Through his network at Startup Nijmegen, Thijs came across Brilliant Work during a training course. This turned out to be a turning point. Thijs approached Brilliant Work asking how he could improve his sales process to business customers. “I wanted someone who could coach me in business sales and that turned out to be David Kleerekoper,” Thijs explains.
David helped Thijs analyze the sales process and identify potential business customers. “We looked at how we could look beyond just students buying cases of beer to broader business opportunities.”
A recent milestone Thijs achieved thanks to his collaboration with David is the partnership with Albert Heijn, which means that the Krathaak is now available in 650 stores.
Strategic coaching as a growth catalyst
The collaboration between Krathaak and Brilliant Work is an example of how strategic coaching can contribute to the growth and professionalization of a start-up.

Tips on how, as an ambitious entrepreneur during a change process, you can grow both your employees and your business.
Recently HR coach Esther Lucassen joined the team of Brilliant Work. She focuses on the human side of organizations in change and growth especially within SMEs. Her strength is to bring both parties closer together so that they can strengthen each other. In this article Esther talks about the importance of a well-designed change process and how you can lift your company and employees to a higher level with the help of an HR coach.
Growing people and organizations
Esther, how did you get into the role of HR coach?
“When I started for myself last year after years of practice, I defined my own mission and shared my passion for bringing out the best in people and teams in organizations. I believe that when people grow and develop, the organization also grows and develops. This aligns closely with the idea of learning and development, which is exactly what my work is about (especially in the SLIM projects as well).”
“I believe that when people grow and develop, the organization also grows and develops.”
Can you tell us something about your experiences with growing companies?
” What I often see is that smaller companies that are growing run into the same problems. Usually there is no HR department or no proper HR structure or tools yet, and companies have to change because they have to hire more staff, or they are hiring staff for the first time.”
You can read Esther’s complete article here. Do you want to grow your business and are you about to hire staff?
