At Brilliant Work, we coach many entrepreneurs. Whether you are experienced or completely inexperienced in entrepreneurship, our professional coaches are happy to help you find your way and map out your path as an entrepreneur. For example, read here the story of Priscilla from FØRENA.
Priscilla worked for years in the financial sector in various positions. An inspiring conversation with her director at Rabobank made her decide to step out of her comfort zone and set her own course.
The road to entrepreneurship
“How do you start if you don’t come from an entrepreneurial family?” wonders Priscilla aloud. After years of planning and preparation, she met Lizanne, founder of Brilliant Work, at a networking event at NEC. Lizanne told her about the coaching opportunities with a 1,000 euro grant. “I grab that opportunity with both hands I thought then” Priscilla tells enthusiastically. In May 2021, FØRENA opened its doors.
“Meeting with Lizanne and her explanation of the 1,000 euro startup coaching grant was really a help in my entrepreneurial journey.”
Challenges and coaching
Priscilla ran into several challenges, such as formulating financial growth and target audience determination. “It was a great help to be supported from a helicopter view,” she says. Martine, another Brilliant Work coach, helped her with HR issues such as job postings and job profiles. “Everything was new to me; I was not only working on the concept and setting up a company, but also physically building it.”
“Coaching gave me the helicopter view I needed to clearly set and achieve my goals.” You can read Priscilla’s complete story here.

Expansion plans towards Germany? Read the export tips from our export and market development expert, Jan Willem Temmink
Jan Willem Temmink has built an impressive career in both the Netherlands and Germany. With various management positions to his name, he has developed a unique expertise in export and market development, mainly for B2B organizations in the IT, manufacturing and production industries.
Growth opportunities in Germany
According to Jan Willem, the biggest opportunities for Dutch companies on the German B2B market lie in sectors where Germany has pent-up demand. “Think of IT cloud applications and the rollout of fiber optics, often realized by Dutch companies. Energy transition also offers huge opportunities, especially in electromobility infrastructure,” says Jan Willem.
“The German market is structured, both in B2B and also in B2C, with strong industry associations. It is crucial to understand who the major players are, what products and services are offered and under what conditions. This knowledge will help you develop distinctive product offerings and compete effectively. Also, research who is represented on the board and what the level of organization is like.”
The answer to these questions is essential. This is how you discover whether your company with a distinctive product offering is promising on the German market. In other words, “Do you have sufficient sales arguments to effectively ‘take the wind out of the sails’ of existing providers? So preferably with quantitative and qualitative facts based on studies, certificates and references. If this exploratory market research leads to a resounding ‘YES’ to this question, then you may conclude: ‘OK, jetzt geht’s los!'” says Jan Willem.
Jan Willem’s article, complete with useful export tips can be read here.
