The architects at KRAFT, partly thanks to Brilliant Work, have consciously chosen to operate as a true design studio. Through their projects, they not only enhance the built environment, but also make a significant contribution to the energy transition. From Brilliant Work, David and Martine have been working with KRAFT Architects as coaches.
Redevelopment and the Energy Transition as Key Focus Areas
In 2013, Arno Geesink founded KRAFT Architects out of a desire to further explore and deepen his fascination with the redevelopment of industrial and military heritage.
“We focus on two core areas: the redevelopment of existing buildings and the design of technical solutions for the energy transition. For example, we design the spatial identity of charging locations. We noticed that thinking often stops at the technical solution itself. Our role is to ensure that these solutions also fit seamlessly into the living environment.
We are currently working as creative director for Alegro. What began as a request to design a canopy evolved into the development of a distinctive and recognisable spatial identity.
Through the European ZERO project, we are co-designing with residents of the Elderveld district in Arnhem to build support for the neighbourhood-level heat transition. Together with local residents, we design everything involved in that transition.”
Strategy and Development
“Brilliant Work has supported us in developing our strategy. We are a small organisation without dedicated HR staff. Although we strongly value internal knowledge sharing and the professional development of our employees, we simply did not have the capacity to focus on this ourselves.
Thanks to Brilliant Work, we are now able to give this the attention it deserves. In addition, David supports us strategically by helping identify opportunities and risks, and by guiding our further development. Strategic coaching does require time and preparation, but it also gives us greater control and clarity, enabling us to make better decisions at management level.”
Everyone has Their Own Expertise
“It is incredibly valuable to be able to draw on experts from other disciplines. You only have so many hours yourself, and it genuinely pays off to delegate work to people who have the expertise and experience you may lack.
Our ambition is to be a leading architectural practice, and that means training and development are essential. We are happy to offer this to our team. We therefore see great value in working with Brilliant Work.”
An additional benefit was the €25,000 subsidy that was secured for KRAFT Architects, which was invested directly in coaching and advisory support.
